Back in the spring of 2008, The Swamp’s intrepid reporter, The Crawfish, went on a clandestine mission deep behind enemy lines and was successful in obtaining one of the most important documents of the Barack Obama campaign, “The Blueprint For Change.” (okay….so he went to their website and downloaded it) This document is the policy manifesto of that campaign. Since then, he has filed a series of reports taking that document subject-by-subject and giving his take on what it says.
As advertised, The Swamp has downloaded Barack Obama’s “The Blueprint For Change” from his website. This is his overall policy statement for the campaign. The Swamp’sintrepid reporter, The Crawfish, will dissect this blueprint, point by point, over the next few weeks. Since the senator has been complaining about the press coverage and his treatment by the media over the past few days (WAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!), The Swamp will take it easy on him today by only posting The Crawfish’s report on Obama’s opening letter.
A Mesage from Barack:
Thank you for taking a look at this booklet.
I believe it’s critically important that those of us who want to lead this nation be open, candid, and clear with the American people about how we will move forward. So I hope this booklet gives you a good sense about where I stand on the fundamental issues facing our country.
We wish you WOULD be candid and clear, senator, instead of hiding behind generalities and lies.
But I also hope that this booklet sparks a dialogue and that after you’ve finished reading it, you get in touch with our campaign and give us your thoughts on the policies you find here. It’s time to put government back in your hands, where it belongs. If we want to have policies that are good for the American people, then we need the American people to help shape those policies.
Then let the American people shape the policies instead of the socialist Dim-ocrat elite!
We all know what’s at stake. This is a defining moment in our history. Our nation is at war (and has been since it was founded…the war you speak of has been going on for over 1300 years) . The planet is in peril (only from Islam…man-made climate change is now proven to be a HOAX!). The dream that so many generations fought for feels as if it’s slowly slipping away (because of socialist liberal policies that have robbed America of it’s individualism and self-reliance!). We’ve never paid more for health care(because we’re paying for those who rely on the gummint to pay and for those who are not legally in this country in the first place) or for college (because “professors” are demanding huge salaries so they can write their books that nobody except their students will read and have graduate students actually conduct their classes. It’sliberal elitists, like Obama, who are driving those costs through the roof!) . It’s harder to save and retire (maybe because the liberal Ponzi scheme called Social Security only gives a 1%return on investment? Give Americans their own money to invest in their futures!). And most of all, we’ve lost faith that our leaders can or will do anything about it.
Which is why most conservatives are turning on the GOP! The GOP is joining the Dim-ocrats to make America a nanny state. Return America’s government to it’s Constitutional boundaries, and keep the government out of our lives and America will thrive!
But it is because of their failures that this moment of challenge is also a moment of opportunity. We have a chance to bring the country together in a new majority – to finally tackle problems that Washington has ignored for too long. And that is why the same old Washington textbook campaigns just won’t do in this election.
The Democratic Party has always made the biggest difference in the lives of the American people when we’ve led not by polls, but by principle; not by calculation, but by conviction; when we summoned the entire nation to a common purpose – a higher purpose (usually defined as unConstitutional BIG GOVERNMENT!). And I run for the presidency because that’s the party America needs us to be right now. I run to offer this country change that we can believe in.
I am in this race to tell the corporate lobbyists that their days of setting the agenda in Washington are over.
Then why are you still taking their money when you say that you aren’t?
I’m in this race because I want to stop talking about the outrage of 47 million Americans without health care (NOBODY IS WITHOUT HEALTHCARE!!!! Stop that lie!!! There are about 20 million ILLEGALS who have no health care insurance, and most of the rest are young and healthy and have made the CHOICE to not purchase insurance!) and start actually doing something about it (Sorry, but Constitutionally, you have no authority to do anything about it!) . I’m in this race to end our dependence on Middle East oil(Then get YOUR party to allow us to drill for our OWN oil in the Florida Straits, off California, and in ANWR! Get YOUR party and the envirowackos to let us build new, clean, efficient power plants! Get YOUR party to allow for the construction of nuclear power plants!) and save our planet from the crisis of climate change so we can give our children a planet that’s cleaner and safer than we found it.
The Swamp agrees on doing things cleaner and safer, but climate change is not something we can do anything about until we can control solar activity. Man Made climate change has been proven, by actual climatologists, meteorologists, and scientists to be FALSE!
As president, I will end the war in Iraq, a war that I opposed from the beginning and that should never have been authorized (so, you say that Saddam didn’t break the ceasefire accords from 1991? If he broke those terms, we were OBLIGED to reform the coalition and remove him from power). I will finish the fight against Al Qaeda (The Swamp actually agrees with the senator here. He has said that he would go after AQ in Pakistan if the Paki government kept refusing to do the job. That is a good point for the senator, but ending the fight in Iraq would give AQ a base of operations and would ruin our reputation as a reliable ally to those who fight terrorist organizations) . And I will lead the world to combat the common threats of the 21st century – nuclear weapons and terrorism; climate change and poverty; genocide and disease.
Once again, you can’t do anything about climate change. It is not the Constitutional role of the US government to fight poverty in our own nation, much less world wide. To do that, oppose socialism and tin-pot dictators that rule most of the developing and undeveloped world!
America, our moment is now. I don’t want to spend the next year or the next four years re-fighting the same fights that we had in the 1990s. I don’t want to pit Red America against Blue America (oh REALLY??? That’s right, you want to pit Black America against White America!), I want to be the President of the United States of America.
That’s why I’m asking you to stand with me, that’s why I’m asking you to caucus for me, that’s why I’m asking you to stop settling for what the cynics say we have to accept. In this election – in this moment – let us reach for what we know is possible. A nation healed. A world repaired. An America that believes again.
So thank you for taking the time to read this booklet, which lays out very clearly how I will achieve these goals for the people of Iowa. And if you have any questions or want to get involved or want to offer your ideas about how we can make our policies stronger, I hope you’ll visit http://iowa.barackobama.com
, call 515-883-2008 or drop into one of our more than 37 offices across the state.
(This version of “The Blueprint For Change” came from the Pennsylvania version of his website www.pa.barackobama.com , which is the one being advertised since the PA Primary is next week, so why does he talk about the goals for the people of IOWA???)
This is the second post in a series that will examine Barack Obama’s main policy document, “The Blueprint For Change.” This is the document that is the basis for his campaign. The Swamp’s intrepid reporter, The Crawfish, infiltrated behind enemy lines (okay, he went to Obama’s Pennsylvania campaign website) and swiped this document from the enemy headquarters (well….he downloaded it), and will now use it against them.
This post is on the first issue brought up in the blueprint, Ethics. It is in this issue that the management of The Swamp expects to find the most actual agreement with the senator’s intentions, although how he goes about it might fall afoul of the Constitution and other considerations.
Barack Obama’s Plan to Change Washington
At a Glance
A Leader for Reform
Obama reached across the aisle and challenged leaders of both parties to pass historic ethics reforms both in Washington and Springfield, IL. Unlike other candidates, he refuses to accept campaign contributions from
PACs and Washington lobbyists.
Come on. Even Hitlery!(tm) has busted you on that claim!
Close the Revolving Door
Obama will close the revolving door between the executive branch and K-Street lobbying shops. Obama’s appointees will serve the American people, not their own financial interests.
And how are you going to, within the boundaried of power given to the federal government by the Constitution, regulate the jobs people can take in the private sector??
Obama will increase transparency so that ordinary Americans can understand their government and trust that their money is well spent.
The Swamp agrees with the senator on this point, but wonders why he hasn’t fought Red Nanny P-Lousy and Land Deal Reid when they’ve snuck earmarks and other nonsense into spending bills after they’ve been voted on.
End Wasteful No-Bid Contracts
Obama will clean up government contracting and end the abuse of no-bid contracts.
For the most part, The Swamp again agrees with this point. There are times, however, when a job needs to happen quickly, and the government agency in charge knows that only one or two companies are well-suited to take the job and get it done properly and on short notice. The liberals’ favorite punching bag, Halliburton, is an example. Many of the jobs they did in the Middle East could only be accomplished by a couple of companies in the world, and they are the only one of those that is American. The Swamp has no problem with how those jobs were assigned, only in how they were supervised and audited.
Lobbyists Write National Policies
For example, Vice President Dick Cheney’s Energy Task Force of oil and gas lobbyists met secretly to develop national energy policy.
Or Hitlery!(tm)’s National Health Care, or… Then again, it makes sense to have the industry experts help formulate the plan. Doing it away from Congressional hearings allows a free flow of ideas without the political GOTCHA games played by politicians whenever there’s a microphone, camera, or video equipment around.
Secrecy Dominates Government Actions
The Bush administration has ignored public disclosure rules and has invoked a legal tool known as the ‘state secrets’ privilege more than any other previous administration to get cases thrown out of civil court.
As opposed to the previos administration which just lied, hid stuff, threatened people, murdered people…..
Wasteful Spending is Out of Control
The current administration has abused its power by handing out contracts without competition to its politically connected friends and supporters. These abuses cost taxpayers billions of dollars each year.
Sorry, senator, but it was the House and Senate that spent billions of dollars on unConstitutional items. The Bush Administration just failed to VETO that stuff. ALL spending originates in the House, according to that document that you really should read sometime, called the Constitution.
BARACK OBAMA’s Plan
Shine Light on Washington Lobbying
Centralize Ethics and Lobbying Information for Voters: Obama will create a centralized Internet database of lobbying reports, ethics records, and campaign finance filings in a searchable, sortable and
The managers of The Swamp have been calling for that reform for years.
Require Independent Monitoring of Lobbying Laws and Ethics Rules: Obama will use the power of the presidency to fight for an independent watchdog agency to oversee the investigation of congressional ethics violations so that the public can be assured that ethics complaints will be investigated.
Red Nanny and Land Deal will only allow that to happen for Republican violations. They’ve proven time and again that they will oppose any ethics investigation into a Dim-ocrat’s dealings. See Cold Cash Jefferson.
Support Campaign Finance Reform: Obama supports public financing of campaigns combined with free television and radio time as a way to reduce the influence of moneyed special interests. Obama introduced public financing legislation in the Illinois State Senate, and is the only 2008 candidate to have sponsored Senator Russ Feingold’s (D-WI) tough bill to reform the presidential public financing system.
Where does the Constitution say that the government can force the private sector to give up their product for free to serve a political candidate? That is what making advertising FREE would do. The Crawfish Party (or whatever we’re going to eventually name it) has a campaign finance reform available on this blog.
Shine the Light on Federal Contracts, Tax Breaks and Earmarks
Create a Public “Contracts and Influence” Database: As president, Obama will create a “contracts and influence” database that will disclose how much federal contractors spend on lobbying, and what
contracts they are getting and how well they complete them.
Don’t know if that would break any privacy laws. If not, then it would be a good idea.
Expose Special Interest Tax Breaks to Public Scrutiny: Barack Obama will ensure that any tax breaks for corporate recipients – or tax earmarks – are also publicly available on the Internet in an easily searchable
How about ending earmarks, PERIOD! The Fair Tax would eliminate the need to manipulate the tax code to help companies or industries that grease the palms of Congresscritters.
End Abuse of No-Bid Contracts: Barack Obama will end abuse of no-bid contracts by requiring that nearly all contract orders over $25,000 be competitively awarded.
Sunlight Before Signing: Too often bills are rushed through Congress and to the president before the
public has the opportunity to review them. As president, Obama will not sign any non-emergency bill without giving the American public an opportunity to review and comment on the White House website for five days.
Some bills are rushed though Congress with changes made at the last minute (or additional junk thrown in) without enough time for Congresscritters and their staffs to review them before the vote is to happen. It’s time to make bills simple and to the point, with everything in them being voted on, not just the whole package.
Shine Light on Earmarks and Pork Barrel Spending: Obama’s Transparency and Integrity in Earmarks Act will shed light on all earmarks by disclosing the name of the legislator who asked for each earmark, along with a written justification, 72 hours before they can be approved by the full Senate.
If it is not germaine to the main point of the bill, it should not be a part of the bill. Make all bills “clean” and eliminate ALL earmarks!
Bring Americans Back into their Government
Hold 21st Century Fireside Chats: Obama will bring democracy and policy directly to the people by requiring his Cabinet officials to have periodic national broadband townhall meetings to discuss issues before
Not a bad thing.
Make White House Communications Public: Obama will amend executive orders to ensure that
communications about regulatory policymaking between persons outside government and all White House staff are disclosed to the public.
No. Some conversations need to be private in order to keep them from being part of the political GOTCHA games of DC. There’s no free flow of ideas in that environment.
Conduct Regulatory Agency Business in Public: Obama will require his appointees who lead the executive branch departments and rulemaking agencies to conduct the significant business of the agency in p
ublic, so that any citizen can watch these debates in person or on the Internet.
No. See above. Some aspects can be public, but not all.
Release Presidential Records: Obama will nullify the Bush attempts to make the timely release of presidential records more difficult.
What about the CLINTON records that have been sealed until after the 2008 election? Don’t blame Bush for something that’s done even more by YOUR party!
Free the Executive Branch from Special Interest Influence
Close the Revolving Door on Former and Future Employers: No political appointees in an Obama administration will be permitted to work on regulations or contracts directly and substantially related to their prior employer for two years. And no political appointee will be able to lobby the executive branch after leaving government service during the remainder of the administration.
You can restrict who lobbies you, but you cannot restrict who someone goes to work for when they leave their gummint job. This also has a possible strike against it in the Constitutional guarantee of the people “to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” On this issue, the senator is working in the right direction, but he needs to remember what his powers are under the Constitution. It can be a fine line.
Free Career Officials from the Influence of Politics: Obama will issue an executive order asking all new hires at the agencies to sign a form affirming that no political appointee offered them the job solely on he basis of political affiliation or contribution.
So, you wouldn’t appoint a political supporter to a cabinet post or staff position? Yeah, right. Believability factor of ZERO!
Reform the Political Appointee Process: FEMA Director Michael Brown was not qualified to head the agency, and the result was a disaster for the people of the Gulf Coast. But in an Obama administration, every official will have to rise to the standard of proven excellence in the agency’s mission.
The Gulf Coast problems were not the business of the federal government. Louisiana’s state government and the Mayor of N’awlins are to blame. Notice how Mississippi, which took lots more damage from the storm, is almost completely done with the rebuild. They rallied around their Governor, rolled up their sleeves, and got to work with an attitude of making it better than it was. They didn’t sit on their butts, ransack the stores for big screens, and whine that the gummint wasn’t helping them out. They evacuated when they needed to and are WORKING to make their state better. Maybe that’s because they are led by a Republican!
Federal Ethics Reform
Obama and Senator Feingold (D-WI) took on both parties and proposed ethics legislation that was described as the “gold standard” for reform. It was because of their leadership that ending subsidized corporate jet travel, mandating disclosure of lobbyists’ bundling of contributions, and enacting strong new restrictions of lobbyist-sponsored trips became part of the final ethics bill that was signed into law. The Washington Post wrote in an editorial, “The final package is the strongest ethics legislation to emerge from Congress yet.”
The Swamp’s management has not read that entire bill, but on the surface it does appear to be a big step in the right direction.
Google for Government
Americans have the right to know how their tax dollars are spent, but that information has been hidden from public view for too long. That’s why Barack Obama and Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) passed a law to create a Google-like search engine to allow regular people to track federal grants, contracts, earmarks, and loans online. The Chicago Sun-Times wrote, “It would enable the public to see where federal money goes and how it is spent. It’s a brilliant idea.”
Again, the management of The Swamp finds this to be a step in the right direction. Getting rid of earmarks and all spending that isn’t voted upon by line item would also go a LONG way toward getting our government into some sense of fiscal responsibility, but we don’t expect career politicians to give that power up any time soon.
In 1998, Obama joined forces with former U.S. Sen. Paul Simon (D-IL) to pass the toughest campaign finance law in Illinois history. The legislation banned the personal use of campaign money by Illinois legislators and banned most gifts from lobbyists. Before the law was passed, one organization ranked Illinois worst among 50 states for its campaign finance regulations.
Passing the toughest law in the state ranked worst isn’t such a big feat. Changing the laws to make the state the model for others to emulate would have been something to brag about. Illinois campaign finance laws are still basically incumbant protection acts.
A High Standard
Unlike other candidates Obama’s campaign refuses to accept contributions from Washington lobbyists and political action committees.
It appears that your opponent has found that you DO accept those contributions, just masked by taking them from the people RUNNING those groups, not the groups themselves. She has even shown it in TV ads in Pennsylvania. It’s pretty bad when your statements are shown to be less than honest by a congenital liar.

Don’t worry…..we will!
Continuing our series on Barack Obama’s policy document, “The Blueprint For Change”, found at his Pennsylvania website (www.pa.barackobama.com
), The Swamp’s
intrepid reporter, The Crawfish
, examines the senator’s stance on the issue of health care. This is where the senator starts showing how much of an anti-Constitutional socialist he really is.
Barack Obama’s Plan for a Healthy America
“We now face an opportunity – and an obligation – to turn the page on the failed politics of yesterday’s health care debates…. My plan begins by covering every American. If you already have health insurance, the only thing that will change for you under this plan is the amount of money you will spend on premiums. That will be less. If you are one of the 45 million Americans who don’t have health insurance, you will have it after this plan becomes law. No one will be turned away because of a preexisting condition or illness.”
–Barack Obama, Speech in Iowa City, IA, May 29, 2007
This is gonna be like shooting fish in a barrel!
Our first question is…WHAT health care crisis? America has the best health care in the world. Could it be better? Of course. Is government involvement/regulation/management the answer? Only if you want it to go down the tubes!
At a Glance
Obama will sign a universal health care plan into law by the end of his first term in office. His plan will provide affordable, quality health care coverage for every American.
So sorry…that’s not in the Constitution.
Reduce Health Care Costs
Obama’s plan will bring down the cost of health care and reduce a typical family’s premiums by as much as $2,500 per year.
A government plan that will reduce costs? Yeah, right.
Millions Of Americans are Uninsured or Underinsured because of Rising Medical Costs
47 million Americans – including nearly 9 million children – lack health insurance with no signs of this trend slowing down.
a) That number is probably false.
b) About 15 million or so are illegal aliens. Kick them out of the country and there goes a large chunk of the health care problems!
c) Another large chunk is made up of young adults who are mostly healthy and CHOOSE not to purchase health insurance.
Health Care Costs are Skyrocketing
Health insurance premiums have risen four times faster than wages over the past six years.
One problem is that in America, unlike the rest of the world, pharmaceutical companies are allowed to advertise their products on radio and TV. Would there really be a huge market for Viagra and Cialis if it wasn’t on TV constantly? The boobtube addicted sheeple see all of these ads and decide that they MUST HAVE these products, and no generics either, they want the one that’s ADVERTISED! As a result, Americans use lots more pharmaceutical products than people in the rest of the civilized world.
The other half of the problem is the John Edwards types. Lawyers who will sue for even the slightest HINT of medical issue, whether it is caused by a doctor or by nature. They have made malpractice insurance for doctors and medical facilities prohibitively expensive. They have sued medical specialists out of certain areas of the country, such as OB-GYNs in North Carolina.
Too Little is Spent on Prevention and Public Health
The nation faces epidemics of obesity and chronic diseases as well as new threats of pandemic flu and bioterrorism. Yet despite all of this less than 4 cents of every health care dollar is spent on prevention and public health.
Much of what is spent on Public Health is spent for hospital ERs that are overrun with illegal aliens getting free American health care. That is driving some hospitals out of business. Southern California is the prime example.
BARACK OBAMA’s Plan
Quality, Affordable and Portable Coverage for All
(1) Obama’s Plan to Cover Uninsured
Obama will make available a new national health plan so all Americans, including the self-employed and small businesses, can buy affordable health coverage that is similar to the plan available to members of Congress.
What companies are you going to convince to do this voluntarily?
The Obama Plan will have the Following Features:
Guaranteed Eligibility: No American will be turned away FROM ANY INSURANCE PLAN because of illness or pre-existing conditions.
So you’re admitting that you don’t have any clue as to how insurance companies work. You are trying to make them completely unprofitable. Unless you have the gummint pay for it all (unConstitutionally), you’re going to drive those companies out of business.
• Comprehensive Benefits: The benefit package will be similar to that offered through Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP), the plan members of Congress have. The plan will cover all essential medical services, including preventive, maternity and mental health care.
There’s another part of the insurance affordability problem. Many states already regulate what insurance plans MUST contain. Many of those options are not necessary for some people, but they have to buy a plan with them included, so the price is higher than necessary. Does a 45 year old homosexual man need maternity and OB-GYN coverage? No, but he’s forced to have it! Give the customers the options of what they want to purchase. In other words…get the gummint OUT of the insurance business!
• Affordable Premiums, Co-Pays and Deductibles.
You cannot mandate that. The Constitution doesn’t give you the power to run roughshod over private businesses. You cannot dictate how much a company charges it’s customers.
Individuals and families who do not qualify for Medicaid or SCHIP but still need financial assistance will receive an income-related federal subsidy to buy into the new public plan or purchase a private health care plan.
Where did he find THAT in the Constitution? Why does he have such a hard time with the concept of individual RESPONSIBILITY? If someone can’t afford to have a family, then why are they popping out 5 kids?
• Simplified Paperwork and Reined in Health Costs.
Nice platitude. Just like the rest of your campaign mantras, we answer with….WHERE’S THE BEEF? How do you propose to do so?
• Easy Enrollment: The new public plan will be simple to enroll in and provide ready access to coverage.
WHERE’S THE BEEF?
• Portability and Choice: Participants in the new public plan and the National Health Insurance Exchange (see below) will be able to move from job to job without changing orjeopardizing their health care coverage.
• Quality and Efficiency: Participating insurance companies in the new public program will be required to report data to ensure that standards for quality, health information technology and administration are being met.
(2) National Health Insurance Exchange: The Obama plan will create a National Health Insurance Exchange to help individuals who wish to purchase a private insurance plan. The Exchange will act as a watchdog group and help reform the private insurance market by creating rules and standards for participating insurance plans to ensure fairness and to make individual coverage more affordable and accessible. Insurers would have to issue every applicant a policy, and charge fair and stable premiums that will not depend on how healthy you are. The Exchange will require that all the plans offered are at least as generous as the new public plan and have the same standards for quality and efficiency. The Exchange would evaluate plans and make the differences among the plans, including cost of services, public.
Ahhhhh…..government control over private business. Give the gummint power over a large chunk of the nation’s economy. There’s no better way to make sure that the industry goes down in flames. “Creating rules and standards” where the gummint has no authority? “For participating insurance plans”…but you’ve pretty much said that ALL insurance plans will be FORCED to be a part of it, so there are no plans that are NOT participating. Quit trying to make something coerced seem voluntary. Mandating that insurers would HAVE to issue a policy to every person that applies surely isn’t free enterprise.
(3) Employer Contribution: Employers that do not offer or make a meaningful contribution to the cost of quality health coverage for their employees will be required to contribute a percentage of payroll toward the costs of the national plan. Small employers that meet certain revenue thresholds will be exempt.
Who gave him the power to mandate how employers treat their employees? Where does the gummint get the authority to interfere with the private contracts between employers and employees (in this or in any minimum wage)?
(4) Mandatory Coverage of Children: Obama will require that all children have health care coverage. Obama will expand the number of options for young adults to get coverage, including allowing young people up to age 25 to continue coverage through their parents’ plans.
Again, where does he get the power to make that mandate? Get the gummint out of the way and let the market decide!
(5) Expansion Of Medicaid and SCHIP: Obama will expand eligibility for the Medicaid and SCHIP programs and ensure that these programs continue to serve as a critical safety net.
We’re still looking through this document called The Constitution of the United States, trying to find where these entitlements are authorized, where the gummint is given the power to be involved and run these things, and where Congress is allowed to spend federal money on them.
(6) Flexibility for State Plans: Due to federal inaction, some states have taken the lead in health care reform. The Obama plan builds on these efforts and does not replace what states are doing. States can continue to experiment, provided they meet the minimum standards of the national plan.
It is NOT because of federal inaction. It is because the federal gummint is not authorized to interfere with the business of the states! Have you ever actually READ the Constitution, Barry?
Lower Costs by Modernizing the U.S. Health Care System
(1) Reducing Costs of Catastrophic Illnesses for Employers and Their Employees. Catastrophic
health expenditures account for a high percentage of medical expenses for private insurers. The Obama plan would reimburse employer health plans for a portion of the catastrophic costs they incur above a threshold if they guarantee such savings are used to reduce the cost of workers’ premiums.
Get rid of most of the trial lawyers and you’ll solve a lot of the problem….but that bunch supports the Dim-ocrat Party, so that’ll never happen.
(2) Lowering Costs by Ensuring Patients Receive and Providers Deliver Quality Care:
Get the trial lawyers to stop suing health care providers out of business, then! “Loser pays” tort reform would help out immensely! Oh, sorry….that’s something else that the Trail Lawyers Association….er….the Dim-ocrat Party opposes!
Support Disease Management Programs: Seventy five percent of total health care dollars are spent on patients with one or more chronic conditions, such as diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure. Obama will require that providers that participate in the new public plan, Medicare or the Federal Employee Health Benefits Program (FEHBP) utilize proven disease management programs. This will improve quality of care, give doctors better information and lower costs.
The idea of getting people with diseases/chronic conditions into management programs is laudible, but it is not something that the federal government can force. The Surgeon General’s office could make RECOMMENDATIONS, but that’s it.
Coordinate and Integrate Care: Over 133 million Americans have at least one chronic disease and these chronic conditions cost a staggering $1.7 trillion yearly. Obama will improve coordination and integration of care of those with chronic conditions by making sure programs are fully implemented and encouraging team care.
Again….WHERE’S THE BEEF???? And again, the federal government can make those recommendations, but cannot mandate it or run it. We’d also like to see where those numbers came from.
Require Full Transparency about Quality and Costs: Obama will require hospitals and providers to collect and publicly report measures of health care costs and quality, including data on preventable medical errors, nurse staffing ratios, hospital-acquired infections, and disparities in care. Health plans will also be required to disclose the percentage of premiums that go to patient care as opposed to administrative costs.
The STATES can make that mandate, but the federal government can’t. The only way the feds could work this might be to require that information as an audit procedure for hospitals that receive federal funds, but not all hospitals and providers do so.
Ensuring Providers Deliver Quality Care:
Promote Patient Safety
. Obama will require providers to report preventable medical errors and support hospital and physician practice improvement to prevent future occurrences.
Again, the states could make this requirement, but the feds can’t. Oh, and WHERE’S THE BEEF?
Align Incentives for Excellence: Both public and private insurers tend to pay providers based on the volume of services provided, rather than the quality or effectiveness of care. Providers who see patients enrolled in the new public plan, the National Health Insurance Exchange, Medicare and FEHBP will be rewarded based on how effectively they treat patients.
If the new plan was Constitutional, this idea would be fully supported by The Swamp once fully worked out. How it would work would be interesting to see. How do you quantify effectiveness and pay out? Make this another recommendation for the state insurance commissions (or whatever they are called). Otherwise….WHERE’S THE BEEF?
Comparative Effectiveness Research: Obama will establish an independent institute to guide reviews and research on comparative effectiveness, so that Americans and their doctors will have the accurate and objective information they need to make the best decisions for their health and well-being.
There he goes again, establishing a new government institute that isn’t authorized by the Constitution. Isn’t this something that the private sector or the states should do?
Tackle Disparities in Health Care: Obama will tackle the root causes of health disparities by addressing differences in access to health coverage and promoting prevention and public health, both of which play a major role in addressing disparities. He will also challenge the medical system to eliminate inequities in health care through quality measurement and reporting, implementation of effective interventions such as patient navigation programs, and making the health workforce more diverse.
Looks like something the Surgeon General should be doing. Changing the amount of access in one state vs another is not something the feds can do anything about.
Reform Medical Malpractice: Obama will strengthen antitrust laws to prevent insurers from overcharging physicians for their malpractice insurance and will promote new models for addressing errors that improve patient safety, strengthen the doctor-patient relationship and reduce the need for malpractice suits.
a) What does anti-trust have to do with this?
b) The only ways to drop malpractice costs are by tort reform and states revoking the licenses of bad docs (and other states and the military not giving them new ones). You can’t reduce them by any patient-doc relationship, as the scheissters will still be suing. You can’t watch any television show and not see a commercial for some medical malpractice lawyer at least once per 15 minutes (exception: when political ads overrun the territory, like this past week in Pennsylvania!).
(3) Lowering Costs Through Investment in Electronic Health Information Technology Systems:
Most medical records are still stored on paper, which makes it hard to coordinate care, measure quality or reduce medical errors and which costs twice as much as electronic claims. Obama will invest $10 billion a year over the next five years to move the U.S. health care system to broad adoption of standards-based electronic health information systems, including electronic health records, and will phase in requirements for full implementation of health IT. Obama will ensure that patients’ privacy is protected.
Good idea, but….. We’ve seen how private records don’t stay private these days. How are you going to Constitutionally mandate that people put their private medical information into some government electronic database? Big Brother is NOT watching you, so don’t worry.
(4) Lowering Costs by Increasing Competition in the Insurance and Drug Markets:
Increase Competition: The insurance business today is dominated by a small group of large companies that has been gobbling up their rivals. There have been over 400 health care mergers in the last 10 years, and just two companies dominate a full third of the national market. These changes were supposed to make the industry more efficient, but instead premiums have skyrocketed by over 87 percent.
Barack Obama will prevent companies from abusing their monopoly power through unjustified price increases. His plan will force insurers to pay out a reasonable share of their premiums for patient care instead of keeping exorbitant amounts for profits and administration. His new National Health Exchange will help increase competition by insurers.
Once again, the socialistic tendencies of a liberal rise to the surface. Private companies are in business to make profit. Most of the profits earned by these companies are distributed to the stockholders, and a lot of them are mutual fund investors. Many mutual fund investors are retirees or union workers, so Barry wants to take money AWAY from those folks? Remember that to a liberal, profits are a BAD thing! Does he even know the difference between raw bottom line profit numbers and a profit margin? How is he going to mandate the administration costs of a private company? Why does he hate the Constitution?
Lower Prescription Drug Costs: The second-fastest growing type of health expenses is prescription drugs. Pharmaceutical companies are selling the exact same drugs in Europe and Canada but charging Americans more than double the price. Obama will allow Americans to buy their medicines from other developed countries if the drugs are safe and prices are lower outside the U.S. Obama will also repeal the ban that prevents the government from negotiating with drug companies, which could result in savings as high as $30 billion. Finally, Obama will work to increase the use of generic drugs in Medicare, Medicaid, and FEHBP and prohibit big name drug companies from keeping generics out of markets.
Maybe if you took the government restrictions, regulations, and such off of these companies, their US costs would drop. Europe and Canada have government subsidies for their people to buy medication, which is unConstitutional here. “Prohibit big name drug companies from keeping generics out of markets” sounds like an infringement of patent rights and intellectual property. How are these companies supposed to pay for all of their research that gives us the best pharmaceuticals in the world? Oh, that’s right. Socialists don’t want America to be the best in anything, because that wouldn’t be FAIR.
Health Insurance: In 2003, Barack Obama sponsored and passed legislation that expanded health care coverage to 70,000 kids and 84,000 adults. In the U.S. Senate, Obama cosponsored the Healthy Kids Act of 2007 and the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) Reauthorization Act of 2007 to ensure that more American children have affordable health care coverage.
Where did he find those programs in the Constitution? Entitlement programs must be under the FDR edition.
Women’s Health: Obama worked to pass a number of laws in Illinois and Washington to improve the health of women. His accomplishments include creating a task force on cervical cancer, providing greater access to breast and cervical cancer screenings, and helping improve prenatal and premature birth services.
If that was on the state level in Illinois, okay.

Read the Plan:
The Swamp’s intrepid reporter, The Crawfish, has been going through the main campaign and policy document for Barack Obama, which is called “The Blueprint For Change” (available for download in Adobe format at his website). Today, he presents part 4 of his report. This section of the blueprint deals with Barry’s plan for the economy. It can be summarized simply….ruin America’s economy!
“I’m in this race to take those tax breaks away from companies that are moving jobs overseas and put them in the pockets of hard working Americans who deserve it. And I won’t raise the minimum wage every ten years – I will raise it to keep pace so that workers don’t fall behind.
That is why I am in it. To protect the American worker. To fight for the American worker.”
— Barack Obama, Speech in Des Moines, IA, November 10, 2007
It is American tax policy and minimum wages that are driving those companies away, you moron! Please show us where the Constitution authorizes the federal government to interfere with the private business contracts between a worker and their employer. The minimum wage is not Constitutional!
Barack Obama’s Plan to Strengthen the Economy
At a Glance
Obama will cut income taxes by $1,000 for working families to offset the payroll tax they pay.
Wait a second….we thought you said you were going to get rid of the Bush tax cuts, which cut more than $1000 from the income taxes that most working families pay!
Obama believes that trade with foreign nations should strengthen the American economy and create more American jobs. He will stand firm against agreements that undermine our economic security.
So….why are you against the trade agreement with Colombia? Oh, that’s right. You support unions, drug lords, and socialists like Hugo Chavez instead of a free nation that wants to trade with us.
Obama will encourage the deployment of the most modern communications infrastructure to reduce the costs of health care, help solve our energy crisis, create new jobs, and fuel our economic growth.
That sentence says absolutely nothing. It is all gibberish.
Obama will strengthen the ability of workers to organize unions. He will fight for passage of the Employee Free Choice Act. Obama will ensure that his labor appointees support workers’ rights and will work to ban the permanent replacement of striking workers. Obama will also increase the minimum wage and index it to inflation to ensure it rises every year.
Dang, why not just come out and say you want to repeal the Constitution???? You’re supporting the removal of secret ballot votes to organize unions (like a good socialist), which goes against the Constitution’s guarantee of freedom of association. You support states that have laws protecting unions, saying whole industries are union only, which again violates that freedom of association thing. A worker who wants to work in a certain industry cannot do so unless he joins a union that he opposes. Banning the replacement of striking workers? It’s the employer’s decision who he has working for his company. If workers want to walk off the job, fine, but he has no Constitutional mandate to take them back. The federal government is forbidden from interfering with an employer’s hiring and firing policies….but you’re a liberal, so you don’t understand that.
Obama will crack down on fraudulent brokers and lenders. He will also make sure homebuyers have honest and complete information about their mortgage options, and he will give a tax credit to all middle-class homeowners.
Uh…the whole “subprime loans” crisis is due to you and your fellow liberals demanding that mortgage companies relax their lending standards so more unqualified people could buy houses that they couldn’t afford. Other folks are going into foreclosure because they DIDN’T READ THEIR LOAN DOCUMENTS! Again, where is this the business of the federal government?
BTW, there already is a tax credit for homeowners, you dolt!
Obama will reform our bankruptcy laws to protect working people, ban executive bonuses for bankrupt companies, and require disclosure of all pension investments.
Where do you get the power to tell stockholders how much they can pay the executives of their companies? Those are private business contracts, and are not something the federal government can Constitutionally have a say in!
Obama will establish a five-star rating system so that every consumer knows the risk involved in every credit card. He also will establish a Credit Card Bill of Rights to stop credit card companies from exploiting consumers with unfair practices.
a) Like we’re gonna trust the gummint with financial information. You’d be giving the best ratings to whoever paid the committee the most $$$.
b) Isn’t that the job of the financial industries? We fail to see that anywhere in The Swamp’s copy of the Constitution.
Obama will double funding for after-school programs, expand the Family Medical Leave Act, provide low income families with a refundable tax credit to help with their child-care expenses, and encourage flexible work schedules.
The only part of that which is Constitutional is the tax credit. Of course, in true liberal fashion, Obama’s probably going to make that a tax refund to families that don’t even pay taxes, like Nanny P-Lousy did with the current tax rebates.
Wages are Stagnant as Prices Rise
While wages remain flat, the costs of basic necessities are increasing. The cost of in-state college tuition has grown 35 percent over the past five years. Health care costs have risen four times faster than wages over the past six years. And the personal savings rate is now the lowest it’s been since the Great Depression.
The cost of college has gone up even more than that. Most of that increase is because they are paying professors huge salaries and letting them teach fewer classes, so they have to hire more professors. There is no reason for college costs to skyrocket like they have been doing, but….there’s also nothing in the Constitution that allows the federal gummint to do anything about it. Some states have seen their costs go way up because they are letting ILLEGAL ALIENS have in-state costs! Now THERE is something the feds can Constitutionally do. They can DEPORT THE ILLEGALS!
Tax Cuts for Wealthy Instead of Middle Class
The Bush tax cuts give those who earn over $1 million dollars a tax cut nearly 160 times greater than that received by middle-income Americans. At the same time, this administration has refused to tackle health care, education and housing in a manner that benefits the middle class.
The “wealthy” pay more as a percentage of their income under the Bush plan than they did under Clinton. The Crawfish’s tax bill has been about 20% less under Bush than it was under Clinton (he’s not “wealthy” since he’s an active duty enlisted man in the Navy). The things you mention that the Administration refused to tackle are all things that the federal gummint is not allowed to mess with!
BARACK OBAMA’s Plan
Provide Middle Class Americans Tax Relief
Provide a Tax Cut for Working Families: Obama will restore fairness to the tax code and provide 150 million workers the tax relief they need. Obama will create a new “Making Work Pay” tax credit of up to $500 per person, or $1,000 per working family. The “Making Work Pay” tax credit will completely eliminate income taxes for 10 million Americans.
You mean, like the Bush tax cuts did, which you support repealing?
Simplify Tax Filings for Middle Class Americans: Obama will dramatically simplify tax filings so that millions of Americans will be able to do their taxes in less than five minutes. Obama will ensure that the IRS uses the information it already gets from banks and employers to give taxpayers the option of pre-filled tax forms to verify, sign and return. Experts estimate that the Obama proposal will save Americans up to 200 million total hours of work and aggravation and up to $2 billion in tax preparer fees.
Or you could go even simpler and support The Fair Tax, but we know you won’t because it takes power out of the paws of Congress.
Fight for Fair Trade: Obama will fight for a trade policy that opens up foreign markets to support good American jobs. He will use trade agreements to spread good labor and environmental standards around the world and stand firm against agreements like the Central American Free Trade Agreement that fail to live up to those important benchmarks. Obama will also pressure the World Trade Organization to enforce trade agreements and stop countries from continuing unfair government subsidies to foreign exporters and nontariff barriers on U.S. exports.
You oppose the Central American Free Trade Agreement because the unions and Hugo Chavez, in concert with FARC (Colombian socialist party that is run by terrorists and drug lords), oppose it.
Amend the North American Free Trade Agreement: Obama believes that NAFTA and its potential were oversold to the American people. Obama will work with the leaders of Canada and Mexico to fix NAFTA so that it works for American workers.
But your campaign staff told the Canadian government that this part of your blueprint was just for show, and you were really going to do absolutely nothing about changing NAFTA.
Improve Transition Assistance: To help all workers adapt to a rapidly changing economy, Obama would update the existing system of Trade Adjustment Assistance by extending it to service industries, creating flexible education accounts to help workers retrain, and providing retraining assistance for workers in sectors of the economy vulnerable to dislocation before they lose their jobs.
Isn’t that part of PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY??? Oh, forgive us, we forgot that you are a liberal, and as such are against personal responsibility and in favor of a gummint nanny-state. Where are you finding this stuff? In some new edition of the Living Breathing Constitution or is it in the super-secret Dim-ocrat Senate version of the Living Breathing Constitution?
Technology, Innovation and Creating Jobs
Support Job Creation: Barack Obama believes we need to double federal funding for basic research and make the research and development tax credit permanent to help create high-paying, secure jobs. Obama will also make long-term investments in education, training, and workforce development so that Americans can leverage our strengths – our ingenuity and entrepreneurialism – to create new high-wage jobs and prosper in a world economy.
As we asked many times in Part 3….WHERE’S THE BEEF? The best way to create jobs is to cut taxes and spending, so the economy gets better. Getting rid of much unConstitutional gummint regulation of business would also help out greatly. We know you oppose that, because you are a nanny-state liberal.
Invest in U.S. Manufacturing: The Obama comprehensive energy independence and climate change plan will invest in America’s highly-skilled manufacturing workforce and manufacturing centers to ensure that American workers have the skills and tools they need to pioneer the first wave of green technologies that will be in high demand throughout the world. Obama will also provide assistance to the domestic auto industry to ensure that new fuel-efficient vehicles are built by American workers.
a) Glo-Bull Warming is STILL a myth.
b) If you had an energy independence plan, you’d encourage us to drill in ANWR, off California, and off Florida, while building newer, cleaner refineries and power plants. You support reducing our abilities to do anything except kowtow to Islamic states.
c) Constitutional assistance to the auto industry would mean the elimination of the unConstitutional minimum wage and ditching the unions.
Create New Job Training Programs for Clean Technologies: The Obama plan will increase funding for federal workforce training programs and direct these programs to incorporate green technologies training, such as advanced manufacturing and weatherization training, into their efforts to help Americans find and retain stable, high-paying jobs. Obama will also create an energy-focused youth jobs program to invest in disconnected and disadvantaged youth.
We’re still looking for this in our Constitution copies…still can’t find it. Job training is the responsibility of the industries themselves, not the federal gummint.
Boost the Renewable Energy Sector and Create New Jobs: The Obama plan will create new federal policies, and expand existing ones, that have been proven to create new American jobs. Obama will create a federal Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) that will require 25 percent of American electricity be derived from renewable sources by 2025, which has the potential to create hundreds of thousands of new jobs on its own. Obama will also extend the Production Tax Credit, a credit used successfully by American farmers andinvestors to increase renewable energy production and create new local jobs.
Policies that have been proven to create jobs are….reducing the government regulation and control! There is absolutely no way that we will get 10%, much less 25%, of our electricity from renewable sources. The technology simply won’t work on that scale anytime in the near future. In the meantime, the envirowacko lobby refuses to allow for power plant construction, especially nuclear plant construction and cleaner, more efficient coal run plants, so the older, less efficient, and heavier polluting plants have to stay on line!
Deploy Next-Generation Broadband: Obama believes we can get broadband to every community in America through a combination of reform of the Universal Service Fund, better use of the nation’s wireless spectrum, promotion of next-generation facilities, technologies and applications, and new tax and loan incentives.
Again…WHERE’S THE BEEF???? It’s not the gummint’s job. That’s based on what the internet and cable companies want to do, and they will make those business decisions their own way. There’s no Constitutional right to high speed internet and cable TV.
Protect the Openness of the Internet: Obama supports the basic principle that network providers should not be allowed to charge fees to privilege the content or applications of some web sites and Internet applications over others. This principle will ensure that the new competitors, especially small or nonprofit speakers, have the same opportunity as big companies to innovate and reach large audiences.
The Swamp supports the basic principle that network providers should not have to put up with governmental control over their businesses! This guy really doesn’t understand a single thing about business, does he?
Invest in Rural Areas: Obama will invest in rural small businesses and fight to expand high-speed Internet access. He will improve rural schools and attract more doctors to rural areas.
WHERE’S THE BEEF????? We’re still looking for the Constitutional right to high speed internet, but don’t think we’re going to find it. We don’t think we’re going to find anything there about the feds running state education systems or paying doctors to move away from the cities.
Ensure Freedom to Unionize: Obama believes that workers should have the freedom to choose whether to join a union without harassment or intimidation from their employers. Obama cosponsored and is strong advocate for the Employee Free Choice Act, a bipartisan effort to assure that workers can exercise their right to organize. He will continue to fight for EFCA’s passage and sign it into law.
How about ensuring freedom to NOT unionize? Obama supports the unions in their quest to eliminate secret ballots on the question to unionize or not, so the unions can intimidate people to sign in favor of unions and go after the people who refuse to publicly say “yes” to the unions.
Fight Attacks on Workers’ Right to Organize: Obama has fought the Bush National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) efforts to strip workers of their right to organize. He is a cosponsor of legislation to overturn the NLRB’s “Kentucky River” decisions classifying hundreds of thousands of nurses, construction, and professional workers as “supervisors” who are not protected by federal labor laws.
All supervisors are still protected by federal labor laws. Union laws are another story. The Swamp will oppose most union activity until the unions are mae up entirely of people who are actual workers in the industry that the union is all about. There is no reason why Atlantic City casino workers should be a part of the United Auto Workers Union. Donald Fehr is the head of the Major League Baseball Players Association, but not only is he not a current player, he has never been one, so he’s not legally a member of that union. Most people who work in a union headquarters are not working in the industry that the union workers are in, so they shouldn’t be legally in the union. We doubt the head of the transportation workers union has driven a bus or a train in the past decade. Unions nowasays are mostly for their own power and that of the politicians who support them, not for the workers, who’s jobs they cause to go away (see Detroit).
Protect Striking Workers: Obama supports the right of workers to bargain collectively and strike if necessary. He will work to ban the permanent replacement of striking workers, so workers can stand up for themselves without worrying about losing their livelihoods.
Do the workers work for the company or for the union? If they work for the company, when they walk off the job the employer has every right to terminate their employment immediately.
Raise the Minimum Wage: Barack Obama will raise the minimum wage, index it to inflation and increase the Earned Income Tax Credit to make sure that full-time workers earn a living wage that allows them to raise their families and pay for basic needs.
Please show us where this is in the Constitution! Raising the minimum wage raises costs across the board, so the workers only have a standard of living increase for a month or so until the cost of living catches up. It also causes employers to cut jobs or businesses to move to where the cost of labor is less. So this means you are in favor of reducing the number of jobs in America!
Protect Homeownership and Crack Down on Mortgage Fraud
Create a Universal Mortgage Credit: Obama will create a 10 percent universal mortgage credit to provide tax relief to homeowners who do not itemize. This credit will provide an average of $500 to 10 million homeowners, the majority of whom earn less than $50,000 per year.
If they don’t itemize, then they are not showing any proof of home ownership. How do they show that this credit is valid? You are just making it easier to cheat on taxes! The Swamp STILL recommends The Fair Tax.
Ensure More Accountability in the Subprime Mortgage Industry:
Obama has been closely monitoring the subprime mortgage situation for years, and introduced comprehensive legislation over a year ago to fight mortgage fraud and protect consumers against abusive lending practices. Obama’s STOP FRAUD Act provides the first federal definition of mortgage fraud, increases funding for federal and state law enforcement programs, creates new criminal penalties for mortgage professionals found guilty of fraud, and requiresindustry insiders to report suspicious activity.
The whole subprime mortgage industry was started because liberals wanted more people who were not qualified to get home loans to be able to get them anyway. Fraud and abusive practices have NOTHING TO DO WITH IT! Giving loans to people who can’t afford them is the whole problem!
Mandate Accurate Loan Disclosure: Obama will create a Homeowner Obligation Made Explicit (HOME) score, which will provide potential borrowers with a simplified, standardized borrower metric (similar to APR) for home mortgages. The HOME score will allow individuals to easily compare various mortgage products and understand the full cost of the loan.
So you’re going to make something like an APR, when the APR is already used? Why don’t you do the Constitutional thing and let the financial industry handle their own business?
Create Fund to Help Homeowners Avoid Foreclosures: Obama will create a fund to help people refinance their mortgages and provide comprehensive support to innocent homeowners. The fund will be partially paid for by Obama’s increased penalties on lenders who act irresponsibly and commit fraud.
Where does the Constitution say you can give federal money to people who are not responsible with their own money? Why should the taxpayers pay to keep people in houses that they cannot afford? What’s next? Is the gummint simply going to BUY houses for all people making $65K or less per year?
Close Bankruptcy Loophole for Mortgage Companies: Obama will work to eliminate the provision that prevents bankruptcy courts from modifying an individual’s mortgage payments. Obama believes that the subprime mortgage industry, which has engaged in dangerous and sometimes unscrupulous business practices, should not be shielded by outdated federal law.
The industry engaged in those business practices at the behest of the Dim-ocrat in Congress! Besides, what power do you have to tell a state court what it can and cannot do outside the boundaries of the Constitution?
Address Predatory Credit Card Practices and Reform Bankruptcy Laws
Create a Credit Card Rating System to Improve Disclosure: Obama will create a credit card rating system, modeled on five-star systems used for other consumer products, to provide consumers an easily identifiable ranking of credit cards, based on the card’s features. Credit card companies will be required to display the rating on all application and contract materials, enabling consumers to quickly understand all of the major provisions of a credit card without having to rely exclusively on fine print in lengthy documents.
It is the consumer’s responsibility to read those documents. If they don’t, then too bad. Those documents are there to protect the companies. There’s no Constitutional right to credit cards with low interest rates and low penalties for late payments.
Establish a Credit Card Bill of Rights to Protect Consumers: Obama will create a Credit Card Bill of Rights to protect consumers. The Obama plan will:
• Ban Unilateral Changes
• Apply Interest Rate Increases Only to Future Debt
• Prohibit Interest on Fees
• Prohibit “Universal Defaults”
• Require Prompt and Fair Crediting of Cardholder Payments Cap Outlandish Interest Rates on Payday Loans and Improve Disclosure: Obama supports extending a 36 percent interest cap to all Americans. Obama will require lenders to provide clear and simplified information about loan fees, payments and penalties, and he’ll require them to provide this informationduring the application process.
and absolutely non of that makes any business sense, nor is any of it Constitutional. This guy really is nothing but a panderer. He has no clue.
Encourage Responsible Lending Institutions to Make Small Consumer Loans: Obama will encourage banks, credit unions and Community Development Financial Institutions to provide affordable short term and small-dollar loans and to drive unscrupulous lenders out of business.
If they were profitable, those banks would already be doing it. Get your socialist butt OUT of American business!
Reform Bankruptcy Laws to Protect Families Facing a Medical Crisis: Obama will create an exemption in bankruptcy law for individuals who can prove they filed for bankruptcy because of medical expenses. This exemption will create a process that forgives the debt and lets Americans get back on their feet.
So you want to drive up the cost of health care by forgiving debt owed to health care providers? You want to force more of them out of business? We thought you wanted MORE and AFFORDABLE health care! Do you even KNOW anybody who owns a business? Have you ever taken any kind of business class? If so, you should g demand a refund, because you have ZERO knowledge about business.
Expand the Family and Medical Leave Act: The FMLA covers only certain workers in businesses with 50 or more employees. Obama will expand it to cover businesses with 25 or more employees. He will also expand what’s covered under the FMLA, to include allowing workers to take leave for elder care needs; allowing parents up to 24 hours of leave each year to participate in their children’s academic activities; and to expand FMLA to cover leave for employees to address domestic violence.
Where do you get off making federal demands on what American businesses do with their employees? There is nothing in the Constitution that allows these regulations. NOTHING!
Encourage States to Adopt Paid Leave: As president, Obama will initiate a strategy to encourage all 50 states to adopt paid-leave systems. Obama will provide a $1.5 billion fund to assist states with start-up costs and to help states offset the costs for employees and employers.
That is ALL up to the states. The $1.5B fund that you propose…is it coming out of your own pocket? If that is taxpayer money, then it is not legal!
Expand High-Quality Afterschool Opportunities: Obama will double funding for the main federal support for afterschool programs, the 21st Century Learning Centers program, to serve a million more children. Obama will include measures to maximize performance and effectiveness across grantees nationwide.
Not Constitutional. Period.
Expand the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit: The Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit provides too little relief to families that struggle to afford child care expenses. Obama will reform the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit by making it refundable and allowing low-income families to receive up to a 50 percent credit for their child care expenses.
By “making it refundable” does he mean that it will be a credit even for people who pay no taxes, so it becomes a straight PAYMENT? That is not Constitutional. He can make it a tax credit, but credits are only acceptable until the tax burden reaches zero. The government does not pay people to live and spend. It just stops taxing them. Again, The Swamp prefers The Fair Tax anyway.
Protect Against Caregiver Discrimination: Workers with family obligations often are discriminated against in the workplace. Obama will enforce the recently-enacted Equal Employment Opportunity Commission guidelines on caregiver discrimination.
That’s not Equal Opportunity. THAT’S NOT DISCRIMINATION!!! If you have family obligations, you work around them. You find jobs that are compatible with the situations. The government again has no say in the private dealings between employer and employee.
Expand Flexible Work Arrangements: Obama will create a program to inform businesses about the benefits of flexible work schedules; help businesses create flexible work opportunities; and increase federal incentives for telecommuting. Obama will also make the federal government a model employer in terms of adopting flexible work schedules and permitting employees to request flexible arrangements.
GET THE GOVERNMENT OUT OF BUSINESS, YOU AIRHEAD!
Housing: In the U.S. Senate, Obama introduced the STOP FRAUD Act to increase penalties for mortgage fraud and provide more protections for low-income homebuyers, well before the current subprime crisis began.
The Swamp supports increased penalties for fraud, but that has nothing to do with the subprime “crisis” today.
Predatory Lending: In the Illinois State Senate, Obama called attention to predatory lending issues. Obama sponsored legislation to combat predatory payday loans, and he also urged the state to more closely regulate some of the most egregious predatory lending practices.
That was a state issue. Are we to suppose that you intend to make EVERY state issue a FEDERAL issue?
American Jobs: Barack Obama introduced the Patriot Employer Act of 2007 to provide a tax credit to companies that maintain or increase the number of full-time workers in Americarelative to those outside the US; maintain their corporate headquarters in America; pay decent wages; prepare workers for retirement; provide health insurance; and support employees who serve in the military.
It is liberal policies on taxes, unions, and wages that are driving these companies out of the US in the first place!
